Airports in Spain take top slots for passenger satisfaction in Europe
TWO airports in Spain are on cloud nine after being named the best in Europe for their size by satisfied passengers.
Almeria Airport has taken top slot in the ACI's Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards in the category for under 2 million passengers. Following close behind were three other Spanish airports: Girona – Costa Brava, Melilla and Zaragoza while Skopje International Airport in Macedonia took fifth place.
In the 5 – 15 million passenger category Alicante-Elche Airport on Spain's Costa Blanca took the prime position while Bristol Airport in the UK came in third and Newcastle was placed seventh.
The Airport Service Quality (ASQ) is the world-renowned and globally established global benchmarking programme measuring passengers' satisfaction whilst they are travelling through an airport and the awards recognise airports that deliver the best customer experience, and are based on passenger surveys.
“The Airport Service Quality Awards celebrate the achievements of airports in delivering the best customer experience and they represent the highest possible accolade for airport operators around the world,” said ACI World Director General Angela Gittens.
“In both the traditional and new categories, these airports have responded to the evolving needs of passengers to deliver higher levels of service and an award-winning performance.
“Airports have recognised that delivering a better customer experience is an important business tool in an increasingly competitive industry. ACI's ASQ is the only globally-established programme that provides objective measurement and benchmarking for airports to help drive their performance.”
The ASQ Awards ceremony will take place during the second ACI Customer Excellence Global Summit, to be held in Bali, Indonesia in September.
